Discipline Plan

Mrs. Parrish’s Discipline Plan

The children are required to follow the classroom rules.
1.     I will listen and follow directions.
2.     I will keep my hands and feet to myself and my own property.
3.     I will be kind to others.
They are also required to follow the rules set forth by our SAIL program throughout the school.

Behavior Charts
We will use a Clip Chart in our classroom.  Each student will have a clothespin with his/her name on it.  Students will begin each day in the middle of the chart, on green.  Students may be asked to move their clothespin up or down the chart during the day depending on their choices.  Here is a model of the Clip Chart and what each space on the chart means:

Purple
Out of this World
Students who continue to make positive choices move up to the purple level.  They are having an AWESOME day!  They will receive a sticker for the day circled in purple and will receive 2 punches on their punch card!
Blue
Looking Good
Students who make positive choices will receive a sticker for the day circled in blue and will receive one punch on their punch card!
Green
Ready to Go
Everyone starts the day with “ready to learn!”  Students will “clip up” or “clip down” throughout the day depending on their behavior choices.  Students will receive a sticker for the day!
Yellow
Time to Think
Students who receive a warning will move to yellow.  This serves as a reminder for the student to think about their choices.  They will receive a yellow X on their folder
Orange
Please Slow Down
Students who continue to make poor choices, will move to the orange.  This will result in a consequence and an orange X on their folder
Red
Oh No STOP
Students that continue to make poor choices will move to red. It will result in a consequence and a red X on their folder.  This could also result in an office referral and parent contact.

Parents will know their child’s behavior through the use of the daily folder.  Please be sure to review your child’s behavior daily.

Rewards
Students who receive no more than one X a week of any color will be allowed to get a prize out of our treasure box on Fridays!
Punch Cards: Students that end the day in blue or purple will receive punches on their punch card! When they have 10 punches they will be able to choose a reward from our reward catalog which includes rewards such as:  Show and tell, Friend for the Day (they can bring a stuffed animal to stay with them all day), Line Jumper  (they can choose to line up anywhere in our line all day long), Hat Day (they may wear a hat in our classroom), Ipad time,  Free computer time during Literacy Lab.
The options are limitless and more things will be added throughout the year!

In the beginning there will be a lot of “clipping up” so that I can teach the kids what kinds of good behaviors that I am looking for and how good behavior is important.  However as the year goes on it will be harder to “clip up” because I will be looking for above and beyond what they are expected to do.  I want to build good citizens who do the right thing because it is the right thing to do not because of the prize that they may get for doing it!
